Mentoring and Careers Committee

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics Mentoring and Careers Committee is chaired by Darren Croton (Swinburne University) and the deputy chair is Michaela Froehlich (ANU) and has representatives from nodes across the Centre. The Mentoring and Careers Committee coordinates mentoring and training opportunities for early and mid-career researchers in the Centre.

Mentorloop

The Centres of Excellence mentoring program on the Mentorloop platform as launched in June 2023.

The program is an opportunity to start a mentoring relationship with other researchers, professional staff and industry professionals. You have the option to connect to people from within the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics or to someone from one of the other 11 Centres of Excellence participating in the program.

You can learn from mentors who can offer specific insight, advice and opportunities to help you progress in your career or for those of you with more experience, help others as a mentor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us all to get involved in making our Centre a more well-networked place.

You can sign up anytime for the Mentoring Program here: Sign up - Mentorloop

Please answer the questions carefully. You will have the option of self-selecting or allowing the program to match you via their algorithm which will be run occasionally by the program organisers.

Why join the mentoring program?

This is a unique chance to connect with people across a total of twelve Australian Research Council Centres of Excellence, or just within our Centre of Excellence (you have the choice of either option)!

For mentees, it’s a chance to connect and learn from a more experienced mentor who can offer insight, advice, and opportunities to help you progress in your career.

(FYI, in studies, it has been shown that employees with mentors are 5x more likely to get promoted!)

For mentors, this is a great chance to give back while improving your leadership and management skills by providing advice and feedback to someone who can really use your help.

(FYI, managerial productivity increased by 88% when mentoring was involved, versus only 24% with training alone!)
